Lorikeets, turtles and alligators

On Friday I went to fort fisher with Alexei to see the exhibition of the lorikeets. They were really adorable.

We also spent some time at the beach, but it was very hot (we had the last days at least 35°C very day), so we went to get some air conditioning.

On Saturday, after a pancake breakfast, Anne and I went out to go kayaking on greenfield lake. Right in the beginning, we saw a small alligator and during our time on the lake we saw a lot of turtles. A whole lot.

In the evening, I went out with Alexei's family and friends, we got some great (though fried) seafood and Ungar out at the broad walk, which is btw amazing. I think the renewed it for all the tourists.

Standing on the railing, staring out at the same, I kind of realized how much I miss y'all and that I'm ready to go home, but that I will miss Wilmington and all the faces I associate with it as well.

Today, on Sunday, we went to church in the morning, panera bread for brunch and to the beach in the afternoon, which was nice. We built sandcastles as if we're way younger and I got to keep on working on my tan (even though I'm careful, the sun here is much more intense than in Germany and even tan people here get skin cancer due to high sun exposure).

And two more things...

  • Did I mention that I aced all my classes? Muhaha, that means I got an A everywhere. Especially in math, where I got 99% in the final test. I wasn't expecting the A in marine science but out of desperation (not really, but some effort), I handed an (for me extra) assignment in that gave me a hundred and booster my grade up with the one percent I needed.

  • I'm thinking about making a returnee blog about coming back from an exchange, comparing different cultures (in my case mainly Germany and America), talking about my everyday life (for my American friends) and maybe giving some helpful information to further exchange students. Two questions:

  1. Do you like this idea and what other things would you like to see on there?

  2. Do you have a good idea for a name? I'll probably start a blog via Wordpress.

The week. An update.

oh my, haven't written for a whole week.

So the problem with my phone got solved, first I got a phone from jean (which didn't work out quite as well as I imagined), but then my phone came back to life, so everything is alright.

Took a little ride to Hoggard to get the phone from Jean and to bring some shoes to mr. Soodek for his marine science class.

I probably just hang around, at some evening I tidied my room which was looking a bit out of order ?

I'm really sorry for not remembering a lot from a week ago, I just know at some point, I spent time in the pool because it's so hot out now that pool or beach are the two only comfortable outside choices - thanks to air conditioning, inside is nice too, but it feels like a waste...

I organized to meet up with kaya and Alexei to make truffles on Friday morning

As I mentioned, kaya came over- way later than I expected, because I thought she would come in the morning, while ache wanted to come in the late evening- so Alexei was there for a bit and I texted Kaya again to find out when she would show up and so she got into the car and showed up- the truffles are amazing, especially considering I found them on sale from 15$ down to 1.50$ :D

It was a mix, so it didn't really matter that it was a few days expired.

In the evening, we had Hannah's graduation party, which was a desert party, so I just had loads of sweets for dinner. But pretty good ones, Hannah selected some French petites, Amos those things filled with cream, cake and so on... We also provided fruits, so I ate plenty of watermelons and raspberries.

I went to bed around eleven, I was just tired out of the sudden, while Hannah stayed up.

When Willian showed up in 1 am in the morning, that must have been the greatest surprise for Hannah and the best graduation present we could have gotten for her.

In the evening we attended a three hour graduation, which is basically reading the names of over 500 students and applauding. But all those cap and gowns are super cool, I'll upload some pictures later on. (Too lazy right now, sorry I'm in summer break mode)

William and Albert had to leave around 11, afterwards it was us three women again. Mentally preparing for the next week, with Kelleys and Hannah's trip to Italy, while I was looking forward to stay for two days with the Halls (my first host family if you re ally) and for the other few days with the Bagnals (Anne's family).

I took a bike ride. In the glowing sun. For an hour. At least, I took water with me. It still was exhausting. Not to worry though, I still was energetic enough to go out to chipotle, and to carolina beach, where I had the chance to play a little pool (even though I lost^^).

Sleeping loooong. I really enjoy the summer break and being able to sleep in, especially on Mondays.

I took another bike ride, this time a bit later, but it was still hot. Lets just say, all the biking looks positive for my legs.

Getting up at some early time like 8,  doing some laundry to get ready to spent over a week outside the house I normally live in, go out for brunch, help looking for shoes as awesome shopping companion and getting back home, where jean picked me up around five.

We stopped at a garage, because she needed to get the final touches of a car inspection done, we arrived at the house on the voyagers way, I had a dinner that eminded me of Germany and I went to bed.

I slept in, which was nice, I spent my morning with a good breakfast, as in preparation for the paddle boarding I did today together with Katy. And man, it was great. I had a really good time, I'll probably feel the paddling tomorrow min my shoulders but whatever.

We also went for ice cream downtown afterwards.

I started to watch doctor who tonight, because I heard so much good things about the show.

Math exam, rainy weather and a map

i got up quite early, because I had to go to school - to my last official day actually. The math exam. You can imagine I was thrilled and exited to get up at 7 to sit for three hours and solve problems.

But it took me by far not three hours, I was done at least an hour early. Also, all the problems were really easy and didn't ask for logarithms at all, what was my biggest concern.

I came home, shortly after it started raining, I took a two hour nap.

And then here's a cool map of states I visited so far: link

Just a draft

uhm, I kind of forgot writing my blog lately, pout so much stuff happend!

Wednesday we had the end of the year tournament in fencing

Thursday my last real day of school here in wilmington, I'll have to go back at Tuesday though for the final exam in math. Also I took the school us for the first time

Friday evening I saw a Shakespeare play with Anne, her family and Alexei.

Saturday I went to a beach soccer tournament, were at the beach for hours (didn't get too bad of a sunburn), went to a graduation party in the evening and them back to the beach with Arielle and Anne, we met up with Andrew.

Sunday, I spent my morning mainly scrapbooking, getting already a whole page for June filled and went to a cruise with Anne's church youth group in the evening.

Today (Monday), I went out with Hannah and bought a dress, a sun hat and a cool jacket (couldn't find any for you dad, sorry, but I'm still looking)
More information and pictures will be added soon.

Erfolgreicher Tag.

Tolles Videos!

Scrapbooking and beach

The miracle of life, P.T.s and pool

At Saturday, we met at noon to watch a video about child development (yeah, we are geeks) at Arielles place. We means Anne, Maddie, Kathy, and me (and Arielle of course). One and a half hours of embryos and the weird couple, where the guy made whale noises on his wife's belly.

After that we decided to go out for lunch, and so we headed towards P.T.s, only with the problem, that Arielle wasn't sure to which one and we lost Maddie, who's car we were following. Anyways, after 40min driving all over the town, we found the place finally.

Maddie had to leave 10min after we arrived, which was a bit sad maybe :/

But after we were finished with our burgers, we decided to go to Anne's place and use her pool, which was really nice. We have pool weather here if I haven't mentioned that yet. Steve suddenly showed up, because I'll stay with Anne for about a week and he has to check that everything is alright.

When I came home, I had to learn that our wifi, Television and phone (aka everything with cable) is down and won't be there until Wednesday.

Frisbee tournament

At Friday, I only wrote until about noon what I did.

Not sure, if I mentioned that something went awry with my bike on the way to school. At one moment, when I took a turn, it suddenly started wobbling under me and I thought the back wheel might be disconnected or something. When I stopped, I figured out that the problem was on the other end of the bike, on its handle bars.

I continued to push my bike and tried to drive it too, but didn't feel very comfortable about it. So I asked Hannah, if she could drive it home with her truck, which was no problem. I just put it on the heck in lunch break. Then I went to sit with Andrew and Melissa, where we talked about some opinion topic and I didn't completely concur. It was something about handing in homework and deadlines, so it's not that important. I just felt like they were complaining to much about something that is totally fine with me.

In math, we learned about limits and I think, I understood it better than in Germany, so that's pretty good.

In anatomy, we dissected an eye ball, which was interesting, because of the intense blue I didn't expect on the retina and the noise when we had to pop the eye ball...

After school, we went to frisbee and played the alumni (that means the frisbee playing kids from the university, UNCW). We also had pizza and everyone signed my yearbook, I got a ride from Katy's mom, which was good, because I was bikeless.

In the evening I met Alexei, who has Carla (their former german exchange student) and her mom right now as visitors and we watched some tv together.
